Handling

Care must be taken to avoid injury to the handler and the animal. Field biologist have a number of techniques available to capture rodents and large herbivores, which include drugs administered orally in baits, new mechanical devices, and remote injection of drugs. Pole syringes and blow dart and CO2 guns allow the biologist to remain a safe distance from the wildlife species while administering drug injections.
