Why did the farmer need to be sure the riches were intended for him?
He thought the jar might belong to someone else and he didn't take it.

Why did the jar of silver coins turn into poisonous snakes when the neighbor found it, and then turn back into silver coins on the farmer's hearth?
I saw a key chain on the playground and I took it inside school and put it into the Lost and Found.

Because he was being honest. If he had taken something that wasn't his, the coins may have turned into snakes.

It turned into snakes because the farmer's wife and the neighbor were being dishonest. And it turned back into silver coins because he was doing the right thing.
